Cantonese Affair at Zing, Grand Millennium Hotel

Ever thought of how Cantonese fine dining going to be? When I entered into Zing Chinese restaurant at Grand Millennium Hotel, the interior decoration reflected Shanghai in the 1930′s with a touch of traditional elements and furniture, especially loved the armchairs with long and curved settees adorned with comfortable cushions.

The guest chef from renowned Hua Ting Restaurant in Orchard Hotel, Singapore, Chef Chan Kwok came to visit us and prepared us some of his finest creation. FYI, during the period of 15 – 21 November, Chef Chan Kwok prepares a special menu of his signature dishes for us to dip in Zing.

The dish below was such an eye opener for me – Double boiled baby superior shark’s fin in shark’s bone cartilage. The soup itself was boiled with shark’s bone cartilage, giving it a rich and full body which was extremely delightful to drink.

The soup is not alone, hidden at the bottom was a big chuck of shark’s fin, which was aplenty in this soup.

The next dish was Kurobuta pork, also known as Berkshire pig. It is black in colour and imported from Japan. Needless to say much, it’s tender juicy meat with a sinful feelings Smile with tongue outZing Chinese Restaurant

Finally, the desset was a cocktail glass of Chilled fresh fruits with aloe vera and hawthorn berries jelly as our dessert! This was slightly sourish with a hint of lemon juice, very refreshing indeed.

The dishes today would not be possible if not for the guest Chef Chan Kwok who hails from Hong Kong and is now working in Singapore. Such an amusing and amiable guy he is, as can be seen from the photos below.
