My Birthday Celebration 2010

I’m going to blog about my birthday celebration. First of all, a pre-celebration dinner with my family members at Kim Gary. We got 50% for birthday, a definite worthy treat !

I always wanted to learn guitar all the while, but I never thought of really doing it.  Now, as I have more time to myself so I decided to give a try. It’s never too old for anything, right? Lol. Wifey knows about my intention and guess what, I got to choose my own guitar as my birthday present. At the first place, I told myself to get my RM300 budget guitar, however after doing some research, we found out that the guitars on that budget range is built with Ply Wood. Nothing wrong with that, but after brainwashed by some friends, we decided to get at least a solid wood guitar. So, there goes we found the range of RM500-RM800 (Takemine), Tanglewood (RM1000), Art & Lutherie or Simon & Patrick (RM1500-RM1700). The higher spec is like Martin which above RM2k, that’s totally out of budget.

So, we’re looking at Takemine, Tanglewood, A&L and S&P. After listening to the potential (listening to the sound) of all guitar brands myself at the shop, I was attracted to the A&L the first time I heard it. A very sharp, full bodied and super clear sound. So, to the finalist were S&P Songsmith and A&L Spruce Burgundy which was at around same price and actually from the SAME manufacturer too !!

Guess who’s the winner of my heart? I tend to believe the first time impression is very important, and the first time I heard A&L, I knew it’s the one. So, the winner is Art & Lutherie CW Spruce Burgundy. Ka Cing !!
